lyrics

Time & time again,
I was turned quickly into stone
by any beauty that my eye beheld,
by my design, or theirs as well.
But we’re not Davids on such pedestals
with locks of artists to mend our holes.
We are rotting, changing, growing things,
denial of which is all suffering,
I am, I am.

Time & time again,
but I too have played Pygmalion’s role,
and chiseled with tenderest control
the holes required to achieve the likeness
I sought in ones I would adore,
but always wound up wanting more.
So continuing to chip away,
I carved myself an empty space,
I am, I am.

But you’re a birthday, deep with the dayshine.
From dusk to moonbreak, the dust of keepsakes.

Time & time again, I am, I am.
