I would let this glinting lover's eye
that draws up from its wishing well
tears at this too long red light
dry and fade like swing from a bell.
But I collect her every petal of pain
that constellating as sequins do
on the blackest funeral dresses

What a strange maze of sensation
to want with equal passion and patience,
to watch how slow the lava moves
