20070113 - Snow

from The Song Diary I by Paleo

lyrics

SNOW

Snow tucks in the sleepy streets,
I didn't think you'd come.
She's had so many firsts, she says,
I'm her second favorite one,
but that could change tomorrow,
a lady's work is never done.

Hand and foot fairweather fates,
we await their beck and call.
Duty flirts, but never phones,
the fine print on the wall.

Like snow, the night, she comes from sky,
by day, steals into earth.
She leaves me feeling tragic,
and I would not be the first.

I call my angel gaurdian,
try me on for size.
She might call me a daydream,
if I weren't so late at night.

Bright and early barking cats,
coffee stains my teeth,
like a photographic memory,
and snow tucks in the streets.
