lyrics

ALONG LONG ISLAND SOUND

Along the side of the bow,
lucky waves will evolve
into clouds who stir and spill.

On the wind-whipped moon,
like a cuticle rune
filed away and never read.

By the wind in her swoon,
with her blue, barren womb,
every kiss was a wish for rain.

But the rain would go mad,
become snow with a laugh
along Long Island Sound.

Where the icebergs conspire,
just like barbs on a wire
along Long Island Sound.

Do I bring out the worst in the ocean?
Why do the waves spell out my name?

Along Long Island Sound.

And our cats will escape;
they will look for a mate
along Long Island Sound.

Where the skies are all scraped
by the Empire State
along Long Island Sound.
