lyrics
SUNDAY PRAYER, xvi
Time & time again,
my friends are eaten up by life,
fat and only getting fatter,
chewing pillows, nothing matters.
And though I hate to see them suffer —
one and all I love like brothers —
I do confess, I am taking notes.
Feeding the fire until it chokes I am, I am.
Time & time again,
I take them with me through the motions,
give them options, give them potions.
Toting grudges, toting oceans,
they have travelled a great ways,
come to see the waste get laid,
they are not leaving til they do.
Assuming nothing's waterproof, I am, I am, I am.
But you're a birthday,
deep with the dayshine.
Dusk to a moonbreak,
the dust of keepsakes.
Time & time again, I am, I am.
