lyrics

ULTRAVIOLET

She folds her eyelids like two napkins.
I hope you've gotten what you wanted,
wielding your logic like a nightstick.
Why can't you be more ultraviolet?

Why don't you meet me by the fountain of the shadow of speed?
Please won't try it? It tastes lovely, they are pieces of me.
And will we smile the cameras at the white pearly gates?
It's just one of those things that we don't want to think about.

She puts her lipstick on your collar,
and throws her bouquet out my window.
She is the pines. She is Calypso.
Why can't I be more ultraviolet?

I wonder if it's true if we'll inherit the Earth,
or was that rap a tasteless joke, a bit like sex in a hearse.
You know they say that when we die, our life it plays in reverse.
It's just one of those things that we don't want to think about.

She filled up my paper cup with knowledge,
the kind they teach you down at college.
I'd like to tell you all about it,
but why don't we start with ultraviolet?

And yes we sneak round and round, just as quiet as mice,
when there is no dessert at the table of life.
To be lucky in love is just a mouthful of sand.
It is one of those things that we don't want to think about.

But that's the big, blind spot on my Samaritan Sun.
You feel the clocks strain to stop, but they find they cannot.
You see that life is not a fire that's drug around by its hair,
instead it's one of those things that we don't want to think about.
