lyrics

THE JOKE I TOLD DEATH

Here lies the seas that were captured in shells,
much too much like the soul that is captured by cells.
And yes these are my feet, they are taped to the ground
as it spins out control where the bodies they found
had begun to rise up and to dance like two flames
inside Orpheus' palm when he started to play.
Come and listen his song, hear it sung on a wire,
much too much like a bird in the mouth of a fire.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nothing is everything is nothing.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nothing is everything is nothing.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nothing is everything is nothing.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Nothing is everything is nothing.

This is the grain of the oldest of trees,
it's a poem writ in Braille, spells the lies of the seas
that were captured in shells much too much like the soul
that is captured by cells when they finely go old.
Let's make love in a grave, as a joke told to death,
when she laughs water boils and our hearts will arrest.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
